Yet we are the movers and shakers
Of the world forever, it seems
Islamabad Movers and Shakers Campus Club (IMSCLC) organized Music and Art Therapy session for 25 IDP (Internally Displaced Person) children and 25 slum children on the 14th of February, 2010 at Lok Virsa, Islamabad.

The objective of conducting this session was to express our love for the traumatized and less privileged children from Pakistani society. Further, the chalked out activity aimed at the visual expression of suppressed feelings in response to the therapeutic music being played.
IMSCLC’s thoughtful and diligent initiative has not only redefined the meaning of love and friendship but also established that the future of Pakistan rests with the youngsters who think, feel, and serve for the collective welfare and advancement.
The club had requested a female therapist for conducting the session, who initiated it with two of her drawings composed on the spot. Her brief demonstration of 15 minutes was practical elicitation of reception, interpretation, and visual expression of music being played.
Following to this, chartered club members took the charge of event in capacity of group mentors. They were delegated to interact, mentor, and participate along with their groups of 5 children. Their one-to-one interaction especially addressed the needs of children who were incapable of expressing their ideas, or had disturbing and confusing outcomes.
While the music was being expressed in colors by the attendees, Lion Shumaila Javed (IMSCLC Chartered Treasurer) invited US-Aid officials for a brief survey of event being conducted. Lion Ahsaan Shabbir (IMSCLC Chartered Member) accompanied our revered guests on the guided tour of our work area.

The activity ended successfully with the collection of artifacts for evaluation purpose. Proper lunch was served to the children and guests, while the evaluation of collected artifacts was in process. Additionally, Lion Sabina Abbasi (IMSCLC Chartered Member), Lion Yusra Siddiqui (IMSCLC Chartered Member), and Lion Shazia Javed (IMSCLC Chartered Club Secretary) painted desired cartoons and objects on children’s faces.
The evaluation of IDP children’s artifacts manifested their longing for home and family, where as the outcomes from slum children focused on objects from their wish lists.
The session concluded with the distribution of prizes and goodie bags among the children. The top five positions were secured by Waheed (Madawa Public School, Sector I-11/4, Kachi Abadi), Saqib (Madawa Public School, Sector I-11/4, Kachi Abadi), Shahzada (IDP Child), Nawab (IDP Child), and Maryam (Madawa Public School, Sector I-11/4, Kachi Abadi) in ascending order.
